Blood Pressure Testing
Within the last five years, veterinarians have developed the equipment to easily test your pet’s blood pressure. Both dogs and cats can become hypertensive (have high blood pressure). Hypertension in dogs and cat, as in people, can be disease related or genetic. Untreated hypertension can lead to debilitating problems such as strokes or chronic kidney dysfunction. Human drugs, prescribed in doses appropriate for animals, are very effective in stabilizing
a pet’s blood pressure.
